A GLP-1 drugs list is easy to scramble because the ads use the brand and the forums use the molecule. This page keeps them apart. The trial file for semaglutide is the semaglutide research profile. The head-to-head weight trial against tirzepatide is semaglutide vs tirzepatide. How Ozempic and Wegovy differ as products is Ozempic vs Wegovy.

Older GLP-1 medicines (liraglutide, dulaglutide, and others) are outside this list. So is Rybelsus, the oral semaglutide tablet FDA and Health Canada authorized for type 2 diabetes. Rybelsus is not the Wegovy tablet. The semaglutide profile is the place that separates those products.

The five names, by country

ProductUnited StatesCanada
Ozempic (semaglutide injection)United StatesFDA-approved. The May 2026 label lists glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, fewer major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, and a lower risk of sustained eGFR decline, end-stage kidney disease, and cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease.CanadaMarketed. DIN 02471469, original market date February 22, 2018, Novo Nordisk Canada. Prescription.
Wegovy (semaglutide)United StatesInjection approved June 4, 2021 for chronic weight management. Cardiovascular indication March 8, 2024. Accelerated approval for noncirrhotic MASH on August 15, 2025. Tablets approved December 22, 2025. A 7.2 mg weekly injection, Wegovy HD, approved March 19, 2026.CanadaInjection pens are marketed, including DIN 02528517. A November 21, 2025 qualifying notice covers a MASH expansion. This page did not find a marketed Wegovy tablet.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide)United StatesApproved May 13, 2022 as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes.CanadaNotice of compliance November 24, 2022 for the same kind of diabetes use. DINs are on the summary basis of decision.
Zepbound (tirzepatide)United StatesApproved November 8, 2023 for chronic weight management. Approved December 20, 2024 for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity.CanadaProduct monograph date of authorization June 11, 2026, for chronic weight management and for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity.
Foundayo (orforglipron tablets)United StatesApproved April 1, 2026 for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition.CanadaCanada's Drug Agency still marks the reimbursement file "Pre NOC," last updated October 19, 2026. That is not an authorization.

"Other countries" are not given a single legal answer here. The Foundayo vs Wegovy pill page, sources reviewed October 17, 2026, records an EMA committee positive opinion for Foundayo on October 15, 2026, with the European Commission decision still pending on that date.

A Drug Product Database search for semaglutide also returns marketed injections from companies other than Novo Nordisk, including Apotex (DIN 02568012) and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (DIN 02567806). A marketed row is not a finding that the product matches Wegovy. The notices, the Sevmia file that does reference Wegovy, and the US tentative approval are on generic semaglutide in Canada.

What "GLP-1" does and does not mean

GLP-1 is a gut hormone. The drugs in this list are made to act on the GLP-1 receptor. That shared target is why nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation show up across the labels. It is not why the products are interchangeable.

Ozempic and Wegovy are both semaglutide, a peptide analogue. The Ozempic vs Wegovy page is the product comparison. Mounjaro and Zepbound are both tirzepatide. FDA's May 13, 2022 announcement called Mounjaro the first drug that activates both the GIP receptor and the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide is still a peptide. Foundayo is not. FDA's April 1, 2026 announcement called it a GLP-1 receptor agonist in tablet form. The US label describes a small molecule, not a peptide sequence. Lilly's own comparison of the two pills is on Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill.

The Wegovy label's limitation of use says concomitant use of the tablets or the injection with other semaglutide-containing products, or with any other GLP-1 receptor agonist, is not recommended. The Canadian Zepbound monograph says coadministration with other tirzepatide products, including Mounjaro, or with any GLP-1 receptor agonist, is not recommended. Those are label statements. They are not a personal plan.

Dates people mix up

Ozempic's May 2026 label says "Initial U.S. Approval: 2017." The kidney indication is newer. Novo Nordisk announced the FDA approval on January 28, 2025, and the label's recent-major-changes line marks the indication as 1/2025. The FLOW write-up is the trial, not the brand history.

Wegovy's first approval letter is June 4, 2021, for chronic weight management in adults. FDA's March 8, 2024 announcement added cardiovascular death, heart attack, and stroke in adults with cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight. The August 15, 2025 letter is an accelerated approval for noncirrhotic MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis. The letter says continued approval for that use may depend on a confirmatory trial. The current label also covers weight reduction in pediatric patients aged 12 years and older for the injection. The same label says the tablets' safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients, and the MASH indication is written for the injection.

The tablet approval package is December 22, 2025: chronic weight management in adults, and cardiovascular risk reduction in adults with established cardiovascular disease and obesity or overweight. The tablet's own file, including the morning rule and the Canada check, is the Wegovy pill. On March 19, 2026 FDA approved a 7.2 mg weekly injection it called Wegovy HD, for weight reduction in adults with obesity or with overweight and a weight-related condition. This page does not repeat the step-up the labels use to reach any of those strengths. A prescriber does that.

Mounjaro's approval letter, May 13, 2022, is glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. The DailyMed label revised July 2026 also lists pediatric patients 10 years and older. Zepbound's letter, November 8, 2023, is chronic weight management. The sleep apnea approval is a separate FDA announcement on December 20, 2024. The Zepbound label updated August 28, 2026 says safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients. Same molecule, two applications, two sets of indications. The product file is Mounjaro vs Zepbound.

Foundayo's approval letter is April 1, 2026. FDA described it as the first new molecular entity cleared under the Commissioner's National Priority Voucher pilot. The indicated use in that letter is weight reduction in adults, with diet and physical activity. It does not say Health Canada has authorized it.

Canada is not a footnote on the US label

Health Canada authorizes products, not "GLP-1s" as a class. Ozempic is marketed. Wegovy injection pens are marketed. The October 17, 2026 check on the pill comparison found every Wegovy entry was an injection pen, not a tablet, and this page did not find a later authorization that changes that.

Mounjaro's summary basis of decision says Health Canada issued a notice of compliance on November 24, 2022. Zepbound's Canadian monograph prints "Date of Authorization: 2026-06-11" and lists chronic weight management plus moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. Pediatrics are not authorized on that monograph.

For Wegovy and MASH, Health Canada issued a Notice of Compliance with Conditions qualifying notice on November 21, 2025. The sponsor's undertaking was accepted November 28, 2025. A notice of compliance with conditions is an authorization with strings. It is not the US accelerated-approval letter copied into Canadian law.

Foundayo's Canadian reimbursement review was filed before a notice of compliance. Canada's Drug Agency still showed "Pre NOC" on October 19, 2026. A reimbursement review is not a pharmacy authorization. No Drug Identification Number was established from that page.

Prices are not in this table. USD and CAD are different tags, and a converted number would be a guess.

Compounded semaglutide is not Ozempic. The comparison is compounded semaglutide vs Ozempic. Compounded tirzepatide is not Mounjaro or Zepbound. What FDA's shortage discretion still allows is compounded tirzepatide. The buying questions, telehealth letters included, sit on the safety and buying hub.

Retatrutide is not on this list because it is not approved. Lilly's filing plan and the trial papers are on the retatrutide FDA approval page, and the drugs still in trials are on coming soon.

The thyroid boxed warning on the semaglutide and tirzepatide labels comes from rodent C-cell tumors. The labels say it is unknown whether the finding applies to people. The human record we have is the semaglutide thyroid warning.

Common questions

What is on a GLP-1 drugs list in 2026?

On this page: Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, and Foundayo. Ozempic and Wegovy are semaglutide. Mounjaro and Zepbound are tirzepatide. Foundayo is orforglipron, a non-peptide tablet. Rybelsus and the older GLP-1 drugs are real products and are not the five names in the headline.

Are Ozempic and Wegovy the same drug?

They contain semaglutide and they are different approved products, with different indications. The Wegovy label says not to use it with other semaglutide products or with another GLP-1 receptor agonist. The product comparison is the Ozempic vs Wegovy page.

Is Foundayo a peptide?

No. FDA's April 1, 2026 announcement describes a GLP-1 receptor agonist tablet. The US label gives it a chemical structure rather than a peptide sequence.

Is Zepbound approved in Canada?

The Canadian product monograph prints an authorization date of June 11, 2026, for chronic weight management and for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. That monograph is not the US label.

Is the Wegovy pill approved in Canada?

The October 17, 2026 check of Health Canada's Drug Product Database, recorded on the Foundayo comparison, found Wegovy injection pens and no Wegovy tablet. This page did not find a later notice that adds the tablet.

Does this page say which one to take?

No. These are prescription medicines. The indications above are what the approval letters and labels say the products are for. A prescriber decides whether any of them fits a person.
